With nearly 80 area vendors participating, the Milwaukie Farmer Market has quickly become a favorite farmers market in the Portland area. The market is open May through October from 9:30am-2pm. Having increased more than tenfold from the original seven vendors when it began in 1999, the Milwaukie Farmers Market has been CMI’s keystone project since the founding of CMI. The Market is the longest running Sunday farmers market in Oregon and was recognized in November 2012 by The Oregonian as the Best Small Farmers Market.
The objectives of the Milwaukie Sunday Farmers Market include:
(a) To give the community access to a wide variety of fresh, local, in-season farm and other products direct from the producer.
(b) To provide a centralized location for local producers to market directly to the buying public.
(c) To provide a lively, informal, social gathering place in an open-air setting for the Milwaukie community.
(d) To enhance the central business community.
The Market’s steady growth over the past decade testifies to our success in meeting these goals. Each year, the Market season opens on the first Sunday in May and closes on the Sunday before Halloween. During the market season, you can find details on musical offerings, cooking demonstrations, highlighted seasonal produce, and special events, such as the annual pumpkin-carving contest at the Market’s website.
